Art Trek 2014

Art Trek 2014 is nearly here! June 13 and 14 are the dates to put on your calendar!

Here is our logo, to look for at the various studios ~

And here is a map indicating the location of the nine - yes nine! - studios participating this year.

Art Trek, now in its third year is featuring nine artist studios and collectives, and will take place on June 13th and 14th!

You are invited to visit The Studio on 20th, a light-filled working and exhibition space for ten Saskatoon painters. Stall Gallery Basement Studio C is the working studio of the co-owners of the Stall Gallery on 20th Street and two doors away, the MIX Artists’ Collective has found a temporary exhibition space at Green Ark Collected Home on 20th. The 330 Design Group is a collective of sculptors located up the street in a delightful grotto of a former church basement. A short distance away in the Exhibition area, Atelier 2302 offers classes and workshops to the public and specializes in classical drawing and painting techniques. Just off Broadway, exciting works can be expected from the Artists’ Workshop at the Grace-Westminster Church and the Textile Arts Group (TAG), a collective of fibre artists, is located in the Church’s basement. Closer to the city core, Studio 5 can be found on the fifth floor of the Charter House building and features the work of painters, printmakers and a fabric artist. Finally, Lauriston Street Studios is a collective of artists who paint, sculpt and create glass art in the beautiful City Park area.

This is going to be THE weekend in Saskatoon for art lovers and city explorers! Take the studio tour at your own pace to discover some of Saskatoon’s finest artists, watch them at work in their spaces, talk to them about their art-making processes and experience a wide variety of demonstrations.

Date and Hours: Friday, June 13, 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. and Saturday, June 14, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

2014 show starts tonight

Our 2014 show opens tonight at 7 pm. After our long, cold, and monochromatic winter, it is a feast for the eyes.

Some of my work for this year's show, backlit by light from the windows, so a bit glary.

You can see more work for the group on the Artists' Workshop flickr site.

I hope you can come by sometime this weekend. Here is the information again.

Fire Works Art Show this weekend

This Saturday, August 31, I will be participating in the PotashCorp Fireworks Festival Fine Art Show presented by the Pomegranate Artists Group.

It will be located on the sidewalk and street in front of Remai Arts Centre – 100 Spadina Crescent East. The show will run from 11 AM – 8 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2013.

Art displayed from the show can be purchased, come and celebrate our local artists!

Some of the artists that featured at the show are listed below:

Also, I have been accepted as a member of the Pomegranate Gallery at Persephone Theatre, for which I am very pleased. Having an opportunity to hang pieces at this busy community facility is very welcome. This weekend marks the first of the shows, as part of the Fire Works activities. I hope you can come by if you are in town this weekend.

Art Trek 2013

Counting down to Art Trek 2013 - one week away.

This year we have eight studios participating in the Trek, over 60 artists participating. Here is a map of the locations. Also, check out our Facebook page - Art Trek 2013.

Again this year, the Saskatoon Cycle Group will be leading bike tours of the studios. The information is on the web site too if you are interested. Hope to see you there!

The show begins tonight

After a winter of working away, we all have lots of bright new works to share with everyone. We hope people come and visit. With masses of snow still on the ground, there is definitely no garden work going on this year. So come see the show for some colour, music, and conversation. See you there!

One week to go - to the show!

Well, suddenly it is one week until our annual spring show - Artists' Workshop. Although looking out the window, spring is nowhere in sight here. We hope that everyone can come by and enjoy some colour after months of monochrome white.

The final week before a show doesn't allow for too much painting. Now is time for list, finishing edges, varnishing, making labels, lists, framing, lists (did I mention lists?). Thank goodness for google calendar. I reminds me the day before of anything that has to get done.

I did squeeze one more little oil painting in. I love doing these little ones and wanted to have a few for the show. Here it is ~

I have to upload photos of all the new works going in the show. That will be part of this weekend's list too. I have a few more photos to take. Today, being overcast is better for taking photos. We still have so much snow that it is almost impossible to do it in the day time - too much glare! So I have been doing them in the early evening.

I hope to see you at the show!

Back in business - and looking forward

I am really happy that Redberry Art is back again in its great revised format (thanks to my internet gurus).

We have been enduring a record breaking winter this year, into our fifth month of snow and more to come. Spring is going to be very welcome when it finally gets here, but we will be hoping for a slow melt. I have been making use of the indoor time in working on a number of new paintings. They will be part of our Artists' Workshop annual spring show next month, well, really just four weeks away. I am finishing up a number of works in oil so they have time to dry and then be varnised and framed. This year we are trying a variation on our 'miniatures' board. In the past, members of the group would display small paintings together on one panel. For this show, we are all doing paintings on the same size of canvas, 6 x 6 inches, and will have them all the same price. It will be interesting to see how this works out. Here are my four that will be on display.

I hadn't done any florals for quite a while, and after looking at a white landscape out my window for months on end, I wanted to go back to my garden this way.

Here is our Artists' Workshop flyer. You can also see more information about this year's show on our Facebook page.

In June, we will be participating in Art Trek 2013, this year with eight studio groups. We have added three new studios, so will have over 50 artists involved in the tour this year. Very exciting. You can keep track of what is happening on our Art Trek Facebook page

I'll soon be putting up photos of the new pieces I have been working on. Also I have some new sites and information to share.
