Art Trek 2014

Art Trek 2014 is nearly here! June 13 and 14 are the dates to put on your calendar!

Here is our logo, to look for at the various studios ~

And here is a map indicating the location of the nine - yes nine! - studios participating this year.

Art Trek, now in its third year is featuring nine artist studios and collectives, and will take place on June 13th and 14th!

You are invited to visit The Studio on 20th, a light-filled working and exhibition space for ten Saskatoon painters. Stall Gallery Basement Studio C is the working studio of the co-owners of the Stall Gallery on 20th Street and two doors away, the MIX Artists’ Collective has found a temporary exhibition space at Green Ark Collected Home on 20th. The 330 Design Group is a collective of sculptors located up the street in a delightful grotto of a former church basement. A short distance away in the Exhibition area, Atelier 2302 offers classes and workshops to the public and specializes in classical drawing and painting techniques. Just off Broadway, exciting works can be expected from the Artists’ Workshop at the Grace-Westminster Church and the Textile Arts Group (TAG), a collective of fibre artists, is located in the Church’s basement. Closer to the city core, Studio 5 can be found on the fifth floor of the Charter House building and features the work of painters, printmakers and a fabric artist. Finally, Lauriston Street Studios is a collective of artists who paint, sculpt and create glass art in the beautiful City Park area.

This is going to be THE weekend in Saskatoon for art lovers and city explorers! Take the studio tour at your own pace to discover some of Saskatoon’s finest artists, watch them at work in their spaces, talk to them about their art-making processes and experience a wide variety of demonstrations.

Date and Hours: Friday, June 13, 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. and Saturday, June 14, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Fire Works Art Show this weekend

This Saturday, August 31, I will be participating in the PotashCorp Fireworks Festival Fine Art Show presented by the Pomegranate Artists Group.

It will be located on the sidewalk and street in front of Remai Arts Centre – 100 Spadina Crescent East. The show will run from 11 AM – 8 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2013.

Art displayed from the show can be purchased, come and celebrate our local artists!

Some of the artists that featured at the show are listed below:

Also, I have been accepted as a member of the Pomegranate Gallery at Persephone Theatre, for which I am very pleased. Having an opportunity to hang pieces at this busy community facility is very welcome. This weekend marks the first of the shows, as part of the Fire Works activities. I hope you can come by if you are in town this weekend.

With spring, new shows

Today is the first day of spring, which of course brought snow to us. I have been painting away, getting ready for our annual spring show.  Here is the information:

Now it is just over 3 weeks away. I plan to have pretty well all new pieces for the show, so it will be a busy time the next few weeks. I am starting to put up the new pieces in the Gallery of New Works, so keep checking to see what is new.

There is some news as well. Our Artists' Workshop group has been invited to participate in Saskatoon's first Art Trek, a Studio Discovery Tour of five local practicing art groups. You can follow the development of this undertaking on our Facebook page, Art Trek. Art Trek will take place Friday June 8, from 5 - 10 pm, and Saturday June 9 from 10 am - 5 pm. The five groups taking part for this inagural tour are Saint George Studio, 330 Design Group, MIX Artists' Collective, Artists' Workshop, and The Men Who Paint. There will be over 40 artists demonstrating their practice and works.

So it looks like an 'artful' spring coming up! I hope you can come by and take part in the various activities.
